Our story
Itemedical was founded in 2000 by two intensive care nurses with a clear conviction: medical data should support healthcare professionals, not stand in their way.
What started in the Intensive Care Unit has grown into a leading provider of certified medical software for hospitals across the Netherlands and Belgium. Guided by our clinical roots, we develop vendor-neutral solutions that connect medical devices, healthcare information systems, and care teams, with a strong focus on reliability, patient safety, and usability. By turning real-time clinical data into actionable information, we help healthcare organizations improve workflows and support better patient care. We are also expanding into the United Kingdom, an important growth market for our organization.
Itemedical is a business unit of SSG, a Halma company. Within SSG’s digital nurse call ecosystem, we combine expertise in medical device integration, healthcare data interoperability, clinical alarm management, and software solutions that support care delivery. Being part of the Halma group enables us to accelerate innovation, expand internationally and continue investing in solutions that support connected care environments, while staying true to our roots: practical, personal and focused on the needs of healthcare professionals.
Vision
At itemedical we aim to make a positive impact on the quality of healthcare with our high-quality medical software and services. As a leading Dutch software company, operating in the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK, we focus on developing and delivering vendor-neutral software solutions that connect medical devices, healthcare information systems and care teams across hospitals and healthcare organisations.
The healthcare environment is increasingly dynamic and complex. That’s why we continuously innovate our medical software and services. By enabling the secure and efficient flow of clinical data between systems, we help create safer, quieter and more connected care environments, allowing healthcare professionals to provide the best possible care to their patients both inside and outside the hospital.
Mission
Itemedical’s mission has two key aims. First, we strive to reduce clinically irrelevant alarms and help prevent alarm fatigue by supporting and coaching healthcare professionals. Second, we develop software and services from the perspective of healthcare professionals, with a strong focus on safe and manageable implementation in healthcare environments.
At itemedical we believe in the power of combining in-depth knowledge of healthcare, medical technology and ICT. We set ourselves apart through a team with deep expertise in healthcare, enabling us to provide not only technically advanced solutions, but also solutions that fit seamlessly into daily clinical practice. We understand that technology is only part of the solution: it is the people in healthcare who truly make the difference. Our commitment to knowledge, quality and understanding the needs of healthcare professionals lies at the heart of everything we do.
