In the Intensive Care Department (ICU) of Kliniek Sint-Jan, Kruidtuin location in Brussels, an average of 1 alarm went off every 120 seconds per patient: a ballast. Improving patient experiences is important in the renovated department. Patients need more rest to recover. And nurses have more time for the patient.
The solution
The ICU chose the Medical Device Data Gateway (MDDG) from itemedical as the best solution that matched their new vision ‘The Silent Room concept’. Nurses, doctors and medical technicians worked closely with the itemedical team. Through the co-creation of this project, the department gained more knowledge of alarm management..
What changed
- Significantly fewer alarms around the patient’s bed.
- Increased knowledge about alarm management among staff, through involvement in implementation.
- More job satisfaction among healthcare workers.
